A former leading fashion model who was 5'10'' tall. Carey was popular with high-end American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent scientist and was named Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Her father was a geologist and traveled the globe as a part of his professional career. In her college years when she was modeling in a part-time capacity and caught the eye of Ford model Agency representatives in New York. The model moved to France in 1980. She stayed for a short time in Paris as well as Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back home to New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career and was soon being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. When she was modeling, she continued to study full-time for a literature major within New York University.
